I sit sipping tea while reviewing Museum grant applications. I am surrounded with Chilkat Valley Historical Society’s treasurer paraphernalia; file folders for the Haines Borough Code Review and Public Safety Commissions; and could at any moment be called out for a fire or ambulance run. We talked more about giving money at SWELL meetings, but I began with the above because giving of your time is as important--especially in an era where organizations all over the country are in desperate need of volunteers- - as giving your dollars. The Bible outlines the principles of tithing, but my Mom said that is just the beginning, and instilled in me the importance of giving both time and money abundantly.

Why the World needs SWELL

SWELL matters — not just to those who participate, but to the world.

We’re creating a movement where giving becomes not only a personal journey but a collective act of transformation. We believe this work is worth doing. Because when women come together, when we share our wisdom and our dreams, the world changes.
